Welcome to the Winston-Salem Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol!
We are but one of 31 Squadrons of the North Carolina Wing, part of the United States Civil Air Patrol, a volunteer organization of over 60,000 youth and adult members serving in all 50 states.
As an Auxiliary of the United States Air Force, our focus is on Emergency Services, Aerospace Education, and Cadet Programs, training each week in our core functions and requirements. We are currently assigned 2 Cessna aircraft at Smith-Reynolds Airport to assist in those efforts, flying over 350 training hours annually.
Those functions and training include both air crew and ground team participation of our current 88 members in areas of search and rescue, disaster-relief, and aviation education with constant emphasis on aerial, communication, first-aid, navigation, photography, reconnaissance, and survival skills, yet with a sustained highlighting on the latest technology to enhance these subjects. Members of our Cadet Programs continue to excel with national program achievements.
The Civil Air Patrol provides a great opportunity to use existing skills, learn new skills, and teach what we learn to the next generation. We invite young members (ages 12 – 20) who want to learn about service to others; and “seniors” (over age 21) who want to serve in a variety of roles and missions. Service to others remains our underlying theme, as it has for over 75 years.
Our Squadron meets each Thursday evening, starting promptly at 6:30 PM. We are adjacent to the Winston Salem Smith-Reynolds Airport, and our address is 4001 N Liberty Street, North State Aviation Building, Winston Salem, 27105.
